Buildings & Grounds We provide a safe, comfortable and clean environment for students and staff by cleaning, maintaining and when appropriate, improving our buildings and grounds. In all, we are responsible for more than million square feet of facilities and more than acres of land. The Office of Buildings and Grounds (B&G) provides timely and cost-effective facilities solutions and services to the Columbus City Schools Community that meet the expectations for quality. B&G provides professional support to the faculty, staff, and students in pursuit of the CCS Mission.
The CAPE was derived from previous studies that showed a positive relationship between a particular building condition and student achievement and behavior, including air-conditioning, classroom illumination, temperature control, classroom color, graffiti, science equipment and utilities, paint schedules, roof adequacy, classroom windows, floor type, building age, supporting facilities, condition of school grounds.
